Kids of all ages are being abandoned at police stations and hospitals around Nebraska. The Times reported that one desperate widower dumped nine of his kids into the government's lap! It seems Nebraska's recently enacted safe haven law is waaaaayyyy broader than those in other states--usually, such laws only apply to infants.

But still--who knew that the only thing binding some caretakers to their charges is legal obligation?
It's peculiar, because everyone knows the state will step and and remove children from a home where they're being neglected. But if the state doesn't find fault with your parenting, how do you get out of raising your kid? I know what you are thinking but forget Angelina Jolie, she does not adopt Americans.
