I don't know how many of our readers here at GoMom have had offspring with male marmosets--I'm guessing the figure may be around 3%--but there's an interesting new scientific discovery on the Marmoset Parents front. It turns out that levels of the hormone testosterone, which makes dudes all horny and aggressive, plummet in male marmosets when they are exposed to the scent of their infants. Not just any infant, but their very own offspring. Makes a lot of sense, since marmosets co-parent. Of course, as the researchers point out, testosterone levels can be pretty elastic--the male marmosets will reimpregnate their mates within a few weeks after the babies' arrival.
